Are you and your family interested in learning more about the options associated with cremation? When it comes to handling remains, there are a number of solutions that might make sense.

There are a lot of reasons to like the idea of cremation. But the possibilities it opens up for one’s remains are an especially attractive consideration. While burial results in a pretty straightforward outcome, cremation gives you options. The choice is yours. If you or someone you know is looking into direct cremation in Whitefish Bay, WI, consider Cremation Society of Milwaukee. We have a long history with cremation and the kind of expertise you deserve. Whether you are ready to begin making arrangements or simply need someone to speak with, we can help. That kind of support is essential in our view, and we take that responsibility very seriously.

Cremation Society of Milwaukee understands that this can be a difficult subject. Some families may shy away from the discussion altogether, much less the planning itself. We encourage you to begin thinking about cremation when you can. There is a lot to think about, especially when it comes to the remains themselves. While you may or may not be somewhat uncomfortable talking about the subject, speaking with someone in the know can be extremely helpful. It can put your mind at ease and relieve your family of an additional burden when the time comes.

Talking to someone can make the choice a bit easier. But make no mistake—there is a choice to be made. Cremation allows you and your family to decide what happens to your remains. Burial is, for obvious reasons, a bit less flexible. There is certainly nothing wrong with burial, and it remains a very tried and true option for many families. But cremation is unique in part because it creates a number of options for the remains. There is really no right or wrong answer when it comes to those options, but it can still be helpful to have a conversation with professionals. Ultimately this is a very personal decision. It involves your preferences and personality, and it shouldn’t be made by anyone else. So whenever possible, you should take the time to consider your alternatives. Upon doing so, you can leave written instructions, discuss your wishes with family, or even begin making arrangements.

In brief, your options obviously include things like burial, interment, display in an urn, or even scattering. These are generally considered your more traditional options. That doesn’t make them any more or less dignified than other alternatives, but they are each widely practiced. There are advantages associated with each one of these options, and it certainly makes sense to discuss each option in greater detail. For example, burying cremated remains assures that friends and family can pay their respects at a commonly accessed location in the future. Displaying the remains in an urn, on the other hand, often means that the remains stay close to family—generally at a family home.

Other solutions include using remains to create artwork or jewelry, even to plant a tree. These are less traditional, but they can be extremely meaningful. Again, there really is no right answer. Much depends on how you feel, what you’re comfortable with, and what makes the most sense for your particular family. There may be a lot to consider, but there is a choice. And that’s the important thing.
