Will Your Family Like the Idea of Cremation?

Cremation Society of Milwaukee • August 10, 2021

Are you and your family exploring the possibility of cremation? Talking about that possibility is a good thing, and you may find that your family will be very supportive of the idea.

direct cremation in Greenfield, WI
When it comes to something like cremation, it is generally a good idea to speak with your family. It isn’t that you really need their approval or anything like that. It just makes sense to include them whenever possible. After all, they are likely the ones who will be most directly affected by a choice between burial and cremation. So you may care about what they think. If you or someone you know is looking into direct cremation in Greenfield, WI, consider Cremation Society of Milwaukee.

We do direct cremation, which means we don’t handle things like funerals or memorial services.

There is certainly nothing wrong with those kind of events, but nor are they mandatory. You may choose to forego one altogether, or you may wish to plan a small service on your own. Either way, you can save a lot of money by not enlisting the help of a traditional funeral home. You can also focus your time and energy on other things that matter, like spending time with friends and family or even getting out of town for a bit. We believe this kind of flexibility is important, and that’s why we do what we do.

But before you can decide upon direct cremation, you must first get around to the idea of cremation in general. Your family just might have something to say about that, and that’s okay. Listening to close friends or family never hurts. Yes, this is ultimately a deeply personal decision, and you shouldn’t feel like you are being coerced. That said, it really doesn’t hurt to speak with others. At the very least, this kind of conversation can help you clarify your own feelings and beliefs on the matter. Just talking about it helps.

You also might want to think about how your family will be affected. They can certainly save some money in the event that you choose cremation. You don’t have to worry about burial land. And you don’t have to worry about an expensive casket. Nor do you have to think about some of the things that come up with many funerals, like having the body of the deceased prepared and transported. Cremation is often very simple. As a result, it is less expensive. You or your family may wish to purchase something like an urn or another container for the remains, but this doesn’t have to be particularly costly either. Saving this kind of money can be a real advantage for your family, and they certainly might like the idea of that.

Families may also appreciate the options associated with the remains themselves. Whereas burial prevents remains from moving around, cremated remains are very portable. They can be easily moved when a family moves. They can be placed in a living room, den, office, or other room. They can even be scattered somewhere important, making a symbolic statement in the process. The possibilities may be extremely attractive to many families, and that’s another reason they may respond to the idea of cremation in a positive fashion.

Remember, this is your decision and your decision alone. But in our experience, families often play some kind of role, and that makes a lot of sense.

If you are interested in direct cremation, consider reaching out to Cremation Society of Milwaukee. We aren’t here to persuade you that cremation is always the right solution. But we do want you to understand the facts, what is involved, and what cremation might mean for you and your family. Talk to those you love. Give the matter some thought. And always feel free to speak with us
